My Camera and Me

When I have the camera in my hands I get transformed. I get possessed.
By an energy that seems to be endless.
The camera then becomes the extension of my body, lens an extension of my eyes.
My actions become divine...

I still see no God.
May be I become one. I would do no wrong.

A Dig at You - thanks to Hermann Hesse

Acc to Hermann Hesse, a novelist, whenever you try to express anything, it is only half-said and from listener's point of view, it is only half understood.

An analogy to that statement can be drawn about writing and reading and applying maths to that analogy can lead to some funny conclusions.

1. What the novelist implies is that only 25% of what you want to express is understood... that is if the listener is listening attentively!

2. Now on the same lines, if you have fully understood whats written out here, this Hermann Hesse is wrong.

3. If you understand more than 50% of whats written then you and me are brilliant!!!

4. If you understand less than 50% and more than 25%, you can still look in the mirror with one eye. ;)

5. If you understand less than 25%, it high time you figure out yourself! :P

Results - Challenge 1

21 days into this and my success rate was 67%
The 33% consists of the days with super tiredness when I dozed off into sleep unplanned, a couple of nights when ppl being at home didn't make it possible.
Here are the positives I can draw from it.
1. I got over the mental block that one can't sleep sound without the soft comfort of the bed.
2. Its eco-friendly. With sleeping on the floor came abstinence of using the AC. A small reduction in the usage of AC brings down unnecessary usage of electricity increases my eco-friendly quotient. If not much then at my level I can do atleast this for mother earth.
3. A passing comment on saving money with a reduction in the electricity bill. I may have otherwise switched on the AC a couple if times. It needs to be highlighted that the coldness of the floor feels more pleasant than the chill of the ACs.
4. It has taken me closer to the non-materialistic simplistic life that i wish to live. That brings immense content and inner-peace alongwith.
5. More than anything else, it has given me a self-belief of embracing bigger and meaningful challenges that may be knocking.

So sleeping on the floor may sound weird and trivial but its a significant step in the intent to challenge myself and bring me out of my comfort zone.

if you

if you argue i may argue too
if you quarrel, i may lose my temper
if you dont talk, i may stay silent,
but if you just smile, why will i not smile back?
rather why will i not smile at you anyways. :)

Lessons from A Fruit

I wish to be the fruit that falls off detaching itself from the parent tree. When it falls off, it doesnt think that it's leaving it's home behind. That home was never his...

It's home belongs to where it plants its seed. It eventually grows into a new tree and possibly the source of many more.
In the process of planting its own seed, it allows itself to be fully consumed with no second thoughts. The detachment from its parent tree becomes final.

I want to be exactly like that.
A giver rather than a getter.
A hope for the better.
A source rather than an end.

Lessons from a Leaf

I wish to be the leaf that falls off and flows along-with the river.
It doesn't know where its heading towards.
It doesn't even know whether it will get bruised out or remain healthy and for how long.
All it knows is to simply flow along the water to wherever the current takes it.
If the river dumps it at the banks, it gives itself to the sun and in the process gets worn out or gets dried up.
If the river takes it along the water stream, it gets torn apart and dissolves itself in water.
Whether it bears the brunt of the sun or the water, it gives itself completely to the water or the soil, it gives itself completely for the cause of a new life!

I want to be exactly like that.
A giver rather than a getter.
A hope for the better.
A source rather than an end.

Challenge # 1

Yesterday night I challenged myself. Had to try sleeping on the floor. Did it. Weird, isn't it? Had a good sound sleep though. No different in terms of quality than sleeping on a comfortable bed with the AC on.

If some people can do it - be it out of compulsion or otherwise - why can't I?

However the real challenge will be to do it regularly? I will give it a shot though. Had read somewhere that it takes nearly 21 days to cultivate a habit. Sleeping 21 days on the floor should not be tough. Lets see.

I will get back on this after 21 days. Curious to know if I pass this test.
